Libraries holding off fines until October 24

Posted

Dear Community,

We hope that all of the patrons of the ABBE Regional Library System are safe and secure following the historic storm damage of Hurricane Helene.

Due to a loss of power at the ABBE Regional Library headquarters building in downtown Aiken, all of our libraries remained closed from September 27 to October 4.

I am glad to report all of the libraries re-opened for service October 6.

Since many of our patrons have been impacted during this difficult time, we will not be charging overdue fines on materials from September 26, 2024 to October 24, 2024.

We've also reinstated 550 holds that expired when our libraries were closed so most patrons should be back at the top of the hold queue for their materials and extended pick up times for holds by 14 days.

As we all work together to overcome the disruptions from Helene, please let us know how the ABBE Regional Library System can help you.

Sincerely,

Mary Jo Dawson, Director ABBE Regional Library System
