Gratitude for community recovery help

Posted

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank the following in our community for the behind the scenes work that has been done in our community that many people may not know:

Long Branch Church for opening a shelter for anyone in need.

Fire Station 7 and Fire Station 11 for providing a place for people to recharge critical medical equipment with volunteers to man those locations.

All Fire, Law Enforcement, EMS who work tirelessly to help our citizens be as normal as possible in these difficult times.

All power and water providers to our community.

Barnwell County Fire Coordinator and his family who have stuck by my side and worked to do our best to update the community and keep us all safe.

Southern Baptist and all volunteers who have removed trees from those who needed the help.

The cog that keeps this wheel turning, Sheryl Rutherford.

IGA and Roger Williams for holding water for us so we can help you.

And all the kind neighbors in all neighborhoods who have helped their neighbors recover from this storm.

A special thanks to my wife who has stuck with me through so many disasters and has never said not to help our county, or any other county when disaster strikes. She is a champion and I know she worries about me, but it is not in my nature to not help to the end. God Bless you all and we will get through this.

Roger Riley,

Barnwell County Emergency Management Director
