WEHS Senior Beta Club members learn new skills at state convention

Posted

On Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11, the Williston-Elko Senior Beta Club went to the Senior Beta Club Convention in Myrtle Beach to compete and learn more about and from their fellow Senior Betas.

The Beta Club members were able to view other students’ performances, creativity, and intelligence while exploring their own.

In fact, senior Kaitlyn Simmons was awarded the third-place award for the 12th grade Biomedical Health Science Academics. The other seniors on the trip, including Jason Edwards, Gabriel Hosey, Zaria Simmons, and Jada Sims, competed in the Quiz Bowl and did quite well. In addition, Aurora Helsley and George Barrett joined Jason Edwards in competing in the Engineering competition, in which they had to create a contraption that was similar to a mouse trap using a variety of materials. All the students did well in their competitions and learned quite a bit from the convention and the other students.

As for next year’s competition, the juniors and sophomores are planning the types of competitions that they would like to participate in, and how they can become better overall.
