An arrest has been made in the death of 17-year-old Maylashia Hogg and her unborn baby, Londyn Charity, by the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

On July 1, 2024, 62-year-old Jacqueline Y. Reid of 31 Perry Street, Barnwell, was arrested. Reid was charged with two counts of murder.

Reid’s Perry Street home is located on the same street where Hogg’s body was found. The 17-year-old was found dead along the woods line at the corner of Perry Street and Main Street within the city limits around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, February 18 by Barnwell Police Department officers. Hogg was last seen by her family around 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, nearly 10 days before her body was located.

“The defendant…did with malice aforethought, either express or implied, murder the victim, Maylashia S. Hogg, who was 40 weeks pregnant, by stabbing her multiple times with a sharp-edged weapon,” stated an affidavit released by SLED.

During the five-month investigation, SLED released a tip-line with an 803 area-code designated for tips pertaining to Hogg’s case.

Maylashia Hogg was last seen alive on February 8, 2024. Her body was found on February 18, 2024. On July 1, SLED announced the arrest of a suspect in Hogg's death.
