Ramblin Rebels, Sauls Sports Bar help local family

A Williston business teamed up with a motorcycle group to bless a local family for Christmas.

The Ramblin Rebels, a riding club from Barnwell County, and Sauls Sports Bar & Grill, a Williston establishment, raised money to make Christmas brighter for Kimberly Barefoot and her family.

“I am thankful and overwhelmed,” said Barefoot, who lives in Williston. “I literally had no clue how I was going to provide Christmas for my family, so this is just a blessing.”

Barefoot, a 35-year-old mother of two, started losing vision due to a brain tumor. On Oct. 11, she had a successful procedure where a shunt was placed from her brain to her stomach to remove excess spinal fluid. She has since been able to regain her driver’s license.

Bubba Davis, president of the Ramblin' Rebels, said the group started raising money several years ago. They teamed up with Sauls, which is owned by Bobby and Cindy Sauls, this year after asking Cindy if she knew of an individual in need. Cindy said she had the “perfect person,” recalled Davis.

“She has a heart of love and a sweet personality,” according to a flyer promoting the fundraiser.

The Sauls and Ramblin Rebels will team up again on March 16, 2024 to host Kim’s Benefit Ride, which will also help the Barefoots. Cost is $20 per rider or $30 per couple. In addition to the ride, there will be food, live music, raffle, and games.

Aside from their shared love of motorcycles, the Ramblin Rebels formed 13 years ago to help the community. All funds raised stay in Barnwell County.

“We want to help people. We also want to see our community grow and come together,” said Davis.

The fundraising initiative is a team effort, according to the Ramblin Rebels and the Sauls.
