Poetry at Blackville-Hilda High School

Posted

What is a concrete poem or shape poetry? A concrete poem is one where its visual appearance matches the topic of the poem. Another way of stating this is the words form shapes, which illustrate the poem’s subject as a picture. Blackville-Hilda High’s ninth and tenth grade students wrote and created concrete poems. From a simple stick to the invaluable feelings of a genuine hug, the poems covered a variety of topics. Ms. Susan Dobbs, English teacher, was pleased with each student’s writing and creativity in illustrations.  The students admitted their enjoyment in the activity and were eager to have their work displayed for all to enjoy.
