The Barnwell Scarlet Knights Marching Band placed 10th at the 1A State Finals on Oct. 29 at Westwood High in Blythewood. "I am so proud of them for making the top 10 at their first state competition! This is a very young group and none of them have attended a state competition before, so going and performing on the level they did is amazing. In terms of growth, they have come such a long way in all aspects of what we do. They have matured as musicians, upped their level of visual performance, and begun to take ownership as leaders in their program. Growth is never straightforward and always has ups and downs, but every year I have been in Barnwell they have consistently made improvements. I can not wait to see where they go next year," said director Dawn Vickery.
