Learning grows at Macedonia Elementary-Middle School

Posted

At Macedonia Elementary-Middle School, we’re committed to educational excellence of our students. All students are afforded the opportunity to engage the following programs in place at MEMS to enhance their educational skills.

Save The Children Day/Evening Program

Save the Children is the leading independent nonprofit organization creating real and lasting change for children in need in the United States and around the world. Save the Children works in more than 120 countries around the world to ensure the well-being of children. Save the Children, U.S. Programs and Advocacy (USPA) has two overarching goals that go hand in hand to support children’s academic success.

We want to ensure that children in rural communities where we work are socially, emotionally, and cognitively ready to enter Kindergarten and achieve proficiency in math and reading by the end of third grade. In order to achieve these goals, we have a continuum of services and programs in place to support children across the early childhood continuum from birth through the elementary years.

Community Partnership

The Savannah River Ecology Lab visited MEMS to work with the 21st Century Afterschool students in the school garden. The students cleaned up the garden beds and prepared them for winter harvest. They planted seeds of broccoli, kale, and cabbage.
