A traffic stop on August 1, 2023 resulted in the arrest of Camren Burden, 33, of White, Georgia.

Burden was charged with possession of less than one gram of methamphetamine and appeared in the Barnwell County Courthouse for a bond motion on September 11.

The solicitor asked for Burden’s bond terms to ensure her appearance back in Barnwell County due to her living roughly six hours away.

“Clearly I have a drug problem,” said Burden, who apologized to presiding Judge Clifton Newman and expressed she hopes to turn her life around if granted bond.

Burden has a prior record of drug related charges and probation violations out of Georgia between 2018 and 2021, according to the solicitor.

Public defender David Hayes explained he has received calls from Burden’s father asking about bond and the possibility of a rehab program.

Burden was initially sentenced to five years in the S.C. Department of Corrections which was suspended to three years probation with 44 days time served.

Burden was granted a $40,000 surety bond on the special condition that she enroll in and complete a six-month drug rehabilitation program under the supervision of her mother. She will be in custody until accepted into the program and has been fined $798.25, according to the S.C. Courts website.
