On January 20, a fire broke out in Blackville rendering the home and two vehicles a total loss.

One resident was home at the time of the fire and was uninjured.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined but is believed to have started in the kitchen, according to Earthel Walker, chief of the Blackville Fire Department.

Located on the corner of Pascallas Street and Lartigue Street in Blackville, the home is owned by Florida Building Company & Professional Services Inc., a real estate investment company based in Murdock, Florida.

Responding alongside Blackville FD was the Elko Fire Department and the Hilda Fire Department. Crews were on scene for about two hours.

Chief Walker called the Red Cross to assist those living in the house.
