Posted

The suspect in an attempted armed robbery at Enterprise Bank in Blackville is still at large.

On the morning of Monday, September 25 around 9 a.m., Blackville Police Department (BPD) officers responded to Main Street after a 911 call made from the bank was hung up.

Upon arrival, the responding officer met with the bank’s manager who stated a “black male dressed in a gray and white hoodie with navy cargo pants, a black hat covered by the gray hoodie and a red face mask with yellow gloves,” attempted to enter both the side door and front door, according to the incident report. The suspect was unable to enter the building due to both doors being locked.

Surveillance footage showed the suspect holding a silver handgun while attempting to enter the building. The individual approached the bank on foot from the wooded area on the right side of the bank, according to the incident report.

Upon being unable to enter the building, the suspect fled back to this wooded area.

The Barnwell County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) tracking team was called in and deputies set up a perimeter around the area.

BCSO’s tracking team tracked the subject’s trail through the woods to an area near Pascallas Street in Blackville. Here law enforcement observed an area where a vehicle had appeared to have fled.

The investigation is ongoing and pending.

Anyone with information in this case should call the Blackville Police Department at (803) 284-2333.
