Puppets teach Blackville students to not litter

On Tuesday, October 3rd, the Columbia Marionette Theatre visited Macedonia Elementary-Middle School in Blackville, where they performed two showings of "Litter Trashes Everyone" - an educational performance that conveys the message that every citizen has a responsibility to take care of their communities.

Sponsored by South Carolina's anti-litter organization Palmetto Pride, the show was brought to Barnwell County through a collaboration with litter control deputy Darlene Sanders, Keep Barnwell County Beautiful (KBCB), SouthernCarolina Alliance (SCA), and Barnwell School District 19.

"Since receiving their national recognition with the Keep America Beautiful organization in April, KBCB continues to exceed all goals by following their mission of the "3 E's" - Education, Enforcement, and Engagement." says SCA's Graci Hiers. "We are thrilled that students in Barnwell County received this wonderful educational opportunity."

KBCB currently has an active board of nine members, and a number of volunteers, including several elected officials in each municipality of Barnwell County. To learn more about how you can help keep Barnwell County beautiful, follow their Facebook page at: Keep Barnwell County Beautiful.
