The Hilda Volunteer Fire Department was the grand marshal in the Hilda Hometown Festival parade in October.
Founded in 1973, the Hilda Volunteer Fire Department was recognized for 50 years of service at Hilda’s Hometown Festival on October 14, 2023.
Gene and Teresa Black Varnadoe were commissioned by the town to create the beautiful commemorative plaque. It reads “In Honor and In Memory of those who have faithfully served with the Hilda Volunteer Fire Department. May God Bless and Keep you all. Presented by the Town of Hilda on October 14, 2023.”
The department was recognized as the Grand Marshal of the parade and set up a display including the department's newest service truck, antique equipment, current equipment, pictures of all the fleet over the years, and provided literature and fire hats for children.
