Bus filled! BCSO brings Christmas joy to 265 children

The Barnwell County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) second annual Stuff-a-Bus event will bring Christmas joy to 265 children across the county and even more across the state.

“On behalf of Sheriff Steve ‘Grits’ Griffith, we want to humbly thank every one of you that came out today. Whether you participated, donated toys, or gave monetarily, the fact that you gave will make the difference to someone in need,” said BCSO. “This community historically will always come together at a time when needed and that has been proven many times in the past including today.”

Although it was a cold day in the Walmart parking lot, the community still came out to fill the bus provided by Barnwell School District 45 on December 15.

Rick Holcombe and Virginia Nettles served as Santa and the Elf to take pictures by Shovone Bolen and celebrate those who donated.

“To the citizens, schools, churches, civic groups, organizations, and businesses which all make up this community, from the bottom of our hearts we say thank you all,” said BCSO.

On December 18, the BCSO team began sorting the toys to deliver them to the families on their list.

“They are the reason why we do this event yearly so we can make them smile and enjoy Christmas Day!” said BCSO.

Toys were donated to families and children identified by BCSO and partners. Any surplus of toys will be donated to the Jenna Bodiford Toy Drive and the Ronald McDonald House.
