Blackville, Williston theatre students to perform Dec. 8

Theatre students from Blackville-Hilda and Williston-Elko high schools are ready to get the community in the Christmas spirit.

The Theatre 1 classes from both Williston and Blackville will perform “Ho Ho Ho! The Santa Claus Chronicles” by Pat Cook and “North Pole's Got Talent!” by Lavinia Roberts this Thursday. This is the first year for the theatre classes, which are a result of the consolidation of the former Barnwell District 19 and Williston District 29 into the Barnwell County Consolidated School District.

“Come see all the excitement live on December 8 at 6 p.m. at the Blackville-Hilda High School auditorium (76 Atkins Circle, Blackville),” said theatre teacher Thomas Edwards.

“North Pole's Got Talent!” features scholars from Blackville-Hilda High and Williston-Elko High. According to a synopsis of the show, “It's just days before Christmas at Santa's Workshop, and there's still lots of work to be done - like getting the elves and reindeer in the proper holiday spirit with song, dance, and big belly laughs! Elf host Holly Daze and Mistletoe Merryman welcome judges Mrs. Claus, the pun-loving Ruby the Red-Lipped Reindeer, and Old St. Nick himself to judge the talent show. Contestants Jack Frost and Snow Queen get a chilly reception at first, but even they can't take the warmth and good spirit out of this friendly competition.”

“Ho Ho Ho! The Santa Claus Chronicles” features scholars from Blackville-Hilda High. “We join the host for a special live edition of ‘The Santa Claus Chronicles’ at the North Pole just a few days before Christmas. We start with a press conference where Saint Nick's press secretary answers reporters' questions about the jolly guy. We also meet the elves, Eeny, Meeny, Miney, and Sol, who take care of the reindeer, and we hear from the elves who work the gift suggestion hotline. But the biggest mystery at the North Pole is where Mrs. Claus has disappeared too. Find out in a surprising ending that will leave a smile on everyone's face,” according to the show’s synopsis.
