This nationwide competition celebrates the achievements of inspiring women over 40 who exemplify confidence, beauty, and a commitment to making a difference in their communities.
LaWanda is no stranger to defying expectations. At ¬¬46, she is not only crushing her career goals, but also proving that ordinary citizens are empowered each day to use their own voice, and life circumstances to make a difference in their community, and that age is just a number when it comes to rocking her own unique style. As a semifinalist, she is competing alongside other incredible individuals from across the country, nationally and internationally, for the chance to become the next Fab Over 40 featured in NewBeauty magazine while at the same time promoting early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
“I am absolutely thrilled and honored to be a semifinalist in the Fab Over 40 competition,” says LaWanda. “This competition is all about celebrating individuality and empowering women over 40 to embrace their confidence and beauty. I am so proud to represent my hometown. The support of family, friends, colleagues, and social media contacts from every aspect of life has really touched my heart and offers significant hope to inspire others to chase their dreams, no matter their age,” she said.
“LaWanda brings a unique perspective and infectious energy to the competition as a woman in Stem/Nuclear and all about girl power. Her commitment to setting the highest ethical standards and value-added-lead-by-example approach to everyday life is the legacy she envisions for her three daughters,” explains her mother, Annette Patterson. Her grandmother, mother, and aunts have been the inspiration behind her bold and colorful yet classic elegant style, the foundation for her signature looks and unapologetic personal choices to experiment with different trends.
Her adventurous and outgoing personality distinguishes her passion for women over 40 sharing their stories, connecting with others, and redefining what it means to be beautiful and successful while benefiting people and community. Her desire to be a part of this movement and to use the Fab Over 40 platform to advocate and support distressed teens facing menstruation distress as well as mental health challenges is no small undertaking, and the support of the entire community is warranted.
LaWanda is gearing up for the semifinalist round of the competition, which will include continuous free daily votes, dollar for dollar daily vote donations, and intermittent two for one voting days.
