Allendale County's fall cleanup a 'sweeping success'

Posted

Keep Allendale County Beautiful (KACB), a Keep America Beautiful affiliate, hosted their annual Fall Cleanup on November 3rd and 4th to make sure that the community is clean and litter-free for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. Groups and organizations that were unable to participate during the designated days still did their part by collecting litter from their areas on separate days, helping KACB have a total of 192 volunteers who collected 371 bags of litter plus several tires, pallets, gas cans, and more.

Local businesses, groups, and organizations participated in the cleanup including Renewed Faith International Ministries, Fairfax Community Coalition, Palmetto State Bank, 76 and Sunoco gas stations, USC Salkehatchie's Baseball and Men's Soccer teams, and several others.

"We had an awesome turn out of volunteers for our 2023 Fall Cleanup," said KACB's Anne Rice. "Thank you to everyone who participated!".

Each year, KACB conducts a litter index as part of their Keep America Beautiful reporting requirements. The index is conducted on the same areas in the five county districts of Allendale County annually, and the areas continue to show improvement with each litter index that is conducted.
