FAIRFAX - Valerie Cone Whatley, 67, of Fairfax, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Edward Terrence Cone and Bonnie Sears Cone.
She attended USC School of Nursing and was a school nurse at Allendale County Schools. She later joined the family business at Fairfax Pharmacy where she ran the Balloon Corner. She was active in many community groups and loved helping others. She enjoyed animals and volunteering with rescues, many of which became her own dogs and cats.
She is survived by her sons, Benjamin “Ben” (Julie) of Lexington and Nicholas “Nick” of Williston. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Haley, Turner, and Mary Katherine; two sisters, Bonnie Simmons and Carol Davis; and four nieces.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2024, at Keith Smith Funeral Service.
