The University of South Carolina Salkehatchie is proud to announce on-campus health services through new partnerships with Low Country Health Care System and Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center.
This initiative makes USC Salkehatchie the first University of South Carolina regional campus to offer these vital services on-site to its students, faculty, staff, and local community members.
The new services will be delivered at the Allendale campus via mobile units, ensuring accessible and affordable care for all. Low Country Health Care System will offer a mobile unit on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Conference Center parking lot. Services will include sick visits, physicals, well-visit screenings, and immunizations. Coastal Empire’s Highway to Hope (H2H) Program will be in the same location every fourth Monday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. providing services from their Mobile Mental Health Unit. They will provide confidential chats and information on accessing mental health services. This includes answers to questions about stress, anxiety, or depression, as well as information on their Mobile Crisis Program.
"This partnership is a game-changer for our campus and the surrounding communities we serve," said Dean April Cone. "By bringing these essential medical and mental health services directly to our campus, we are not only supporting the well-being of our students, faculty, and staff, but also playing a crucial role in improving health outcomes for our neighbors."
Both partners share a strong commitment to making healthcare accessible and affordable for traditionally underserved, rural communities. For those without insurance, a sliding fee scale is available to ensure everyone can receive the care they need.
This collaborative reinforces USC Salkehatchie's role as a cornerstone for community health and well-being.
