Trevor Stanley, 21, graduated from Marine boot camp at Parris Island on April 5, 2024.
The lifelong Barnwell resident is the son of Leigh Stanley and brother to Mya Stanley. He graduated from Barnwell High School in 2020.
“We are so proud of him. He’s so kind and compassionate and it has truly been an honor to raise him and to see him transition from boyhood and into manhood,” said Leigh Stanley of her son.
Though joining the military means Trevor will be away from his close-knit family and miss important milestones like his sister’s college graduation in a few weeks, Leigh Stanley said they “are completely supportive of the path he has chosen. I pray for him all the time and I know God has a plan for Trevor’s life and I’m happy to be able to watch it unfold. I hit the parent lottery with Mya and Trevor. I thank God for allowing me to be their mom.”
Trevor has enlisted for four years. He will then decide whether to make a career with the Marines or complete his service and go to college.
