The community came out for Maurice Austin’s 3rd Annual Toy Giveaway held at Ned Branch Missionary Baptist Church on December 17.
Children in the City of Barnwell took pictures with Santa, ate catered food, got their face painted, and participated in festivities before the toy giveaway.
“You made so many kids smile today. Thank you for coming back to your hometown and giving back. You are such a blessing to others,” said Debra Kearse Young of Austin. Young is a member of Ned Branch.
City of Barnwell Mayor Marcus Rivera read a Christmas story.
Mayor Rivera thanked Austin for the “work and love you’ve displayed to this community.” He also thanked Ned Branch for their efforts in reaching out into the community.
Save the Children provided free books and CAN Community Health provided free healthcare information and resources.
Austin hopes to open this event to the entire county in coming years.
