Residents of the Town of Elko celebrated together at the inaugural tree lighting ceremony on Sunday, December 11, 2022.
Local choirs stood on a flat deck trailer in the Elko Firehouse to perform songs detailing the reason for the season.
Before food was served and the tree was lit, guests gathered to hear the Christmas story from Pastor Anthony Gadson of St. Peter Baptist Church in Elko and Pastor Tom Baker of Elko Baptist Church.
Each spoke of how the true Christmas message can permeate through the hearts of those who may not be feeling the spirit this year.
Although the Town of Elko may be the smallest in Barnwell County mileage wise, the Christmas spirit of its residents is far reaching.
