The world-renowned Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will perform with Morehouse College and Spelman College glee clubs in Atlanta on September 11 at 7 p.m. You can watch the special event in a free live broadcast in your home, on your phone, tablet, computer, or smart tv by going to www.tabernaclechoir.org on the date and time or picking up a card with the QR code from these locations:  The People-Sentinel or the Knapp Law Firm, or call 803-443-5415 to have the postcard mailed to you.

The Tabernacle Choir, which is composed of 360 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is embarking on a tour of the southeast United States as part of its four-year world tour, which already included Mexico and the Philippines.

Their visit to Morehouse College in Atlanta comes just one year after the choir performed with them in a broadcast in Salt Lake City. “The music was unforgettable,“ said Morehouse Glee Choir president Michael Leavitt. “When these great organizations perform together, the result is both beautiful and culturally significant.”

The Tabernacle Choir’s weekly broadcast of Music & the Spoken Word which first aired in 1929 is the world’s longest weekly network broadcast providing messages of hope and comfort through music. It now produces versions of the weekly broadcast in Spanish and Portuguese.

“We feel the greatest gift our music can give the world at this time is hope.” Said Choir Director Mark Wilberg. Guest performers of the annual Christmas concerts at Temple Square often remark on how they grew up watching the choir’s specials on PBS.

“We hope many of our friends and neighbors will take the opportunity to watch the Atlanta concert using the QR code,” said local church leader President Nathan Hancock. ”This choir is truly a joy.”
