Chris Paul's 12th Annual CP3 Rising Stars National Camp took place in Winston-Salem, North Carolina August 23-25. The three-day camp, sponsored by NBA star Chris Paul, is an invitation-only camp for 9th and 10th grade, elite level basketball players. This year, Williston-Elko’s Randy Robinson Jr. was invited to participate in the CP3 Rising Stars Camp.
Randy got the opportunity to learn more about the game of basketball and get high-level coaching and the opportunity to compete against some of the best underclassmen from the United States, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
Chris Paul is a 12-time NBA All-Star and certain future NBA Hall of Famer. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and grew up in Lewisville, so he decided to have this camp in an area near where he grew up.
Randy not only participated in the camp, but he had a very strong camp, playing for the Bucks team. Randy measured 6 feet, 5 inches and was playing against several big men that were 6 feet, 7 inches or taller, but that did not stop Randy from putting up some good numbers at the CP3 Camp. One of his games, Robinson scored 30 points against a team that featured three nationally ranked players including the son of former 13-year NBA player Josh Smith. More than 80 camp alumni have been drafted to the NBA over the last 6 years, with several more players playing professionally overseas. More than 94 percent of the camp members have gone on to compete at the NCAA Division 1 level.
When asked about his opportunity and experience at the CPS Rising Stars National Camp, Randy said, “It was a great experience to learn from pro players and to get to showcase my game. It was really eye opening to know that I can compete with the top players in the nation.”
