Dean and Joan Hartzog of Barnwell celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 27, 2024.
The Barnwell natives and high school sweethearts were married on September 27, 1964 at Reedy Branch Baptist Church.
The couple’s children and grandchildren hosted an anniversary party on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Sweetwater Country Club in Barnwell. There was a huge turnout despite the effects of Hurricane Helene.
The Hartzogs enjoyed a champagne toast before cutting their anniversary cake. Granddaughter Brittany Lott created the cake, which was a replica of the couple’s wedding cake.
Everyone also enjoyed a beautiful charcuterie board prepared by Dana Coto and BBQ sliders prepared by the hosts.
Sweetwater’s clubhouse was filled with treasures, photos and other mementoes from the Hartzogs’ wedding day, including original china, the wedding album, the guest book, and Mrs. Hartzog’s going away outfit.
A breathtaking floral arrangement created by Adam’s Nursery was displayed on the mantle.
They are the doting grandparents of Brittany Lott (Josh), Brock Ridgeway (Julianna Cobb), Riley Urwick (Josh), Grayson Kern, Gunnar Kern, and Logan Kern (Chad Herrmann). They are also the proud great-grandparents of Ellison Lott, Cash Lott, and the late Lila Lott.
Mr. and Mrs. Hartzog’s family are grateful for the example of love they provide and the family they have built.
