FAIRFAX - Lightsey Milledge Brabham Jr., age 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Fairfax, on July 3, 2024.

L.M. was born on December 8, 1934, in Fairfax to the late Lightsey Milledge and Agnes Geneva Kinard Brabham. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1952. He married the love of his life, JoAnn Hurtt Brabham on October 18, 1953. He was a member of Fairfax First Baptist Church, served in the South Carolina National Guard, and retired from Savannah River Site.

L.M. was an avid golfer and loved playing with his buddies. He enjoyed talking about old times and growing up in his hometown, Fairfax. He was talented at drawing, calligraphy and especially proud of his Lord’s Prayer framework.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, JoAnn; three daughters, Karen Gibson (Sandy), Vickie Young (Charlie) and Wendy Harter (Tom). He was a proud “Pappy” to seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Grandchildren include Conrad Young (Ashely), Carly Young, Clay Young (Taylor), Hazel Leaphart (Ryan), Josh Harter (Amanda), Megan Dunn (Matthew) and Luke Harter (Bridgett). He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Agnes Brabham Moody (Fletcher).

Graveside services will be Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Fairfax Cemetery with the Reverend James Davis officiating. A visitation will follow at the cemetery.

The family extends special thanks to his nurse, Natalie Roberts with Remain at Home Agency, the staff at Allendale County Hospital and Agape Care Group.
