LEXINGTON - Kenneth David Freeman Sr., 73, of Lexington, S.C., died October 4, 2024, at his home under the care of MSA Hospice.

Visitation will be October 8, 2024 at 1 o’clock at Double Pond Baptist Church, Blackville, S.C. Funeral services will be October 8, 2024 at 2 o’clock at Double Pond Baptist Church, Blackville, S.C. with military honors accorded; Dr. Andy Sandifer, the Reverends Wes McKinney and Ronald Bennett will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Dwight Byrd, Wyman Darnell, Alan Delk, John Delk, Monty Nix and Doyle Presley. Honored to serve as a pallbearer is his 10-year-old grandson, Samuel Freeman. Honorary pallbearers will be Martha’s Vineyard Sunday School Class of Trinity Baptist Church.

Memorial donations may be given to Trinity Baptist Church, 2003 Charleston Hwy., Cayce, S.C. 29033 or Double Pond Cemetery Fund, 357 Double Pond Rd., Blackville, S.C. 29817.

He was born on July 20, 1951, to Arthur David and Thelma Morris Freeman in Augusta, Ga.

Kenneth is a 1969 graduate of Blackville High School. He attended Orangeburg Technical College where he received an associate’s degree in business administration and attended the South Carolina Bankers School. He also served in the South Carolina National Guard from 1971 -1977. He married Judy Delk on May 14, 1972 and lived in Swansea, S.C. with their two children, Ken and Katie.

He worked in the banking, insurance, and mortgage industries. He retired from Trinity Mortgage in West Columbia, S.C.

He served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and on various committees at Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce, S.C. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, as well as the Jaycees. He loved doing yard work and tending to a small garden. He loved attending events for his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, and Papa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Thelma Freeman; and a sister, Sylvia Sanders (Jack).

Kenneth is survived by his high school sweetheart, Judy Freeman, wife of 52 years; his son, Kenneth Jr. (Amy) of Leesville; and a daughter, Kathryn Bryan (Will) of Cayce. He has 5 grandchildren, Zoe and Eve Bryan, and Kaylee, Samuel and Ada Claire Freeman. He has two sisters, Joyce Hutto (Roger) of Hilda and Brenda Padgett (Jerry) of New Ellenton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
