Kathy joined the newspaper in January 2024. Technically, she rejoined the staff because she previously worked at the paper for 12 years (1993 to 2005).

She is excited to help businesses find print and digital advertising options to meet their needs so they can grow their business.

“I love helping people with their businesses. I know our newspaper is the way to do that. I used to tell my advertisers that they can hold a newspaper in their hand and look at it when they want to. When is the last time you remembered something you heard or saw one time? Coming up with new campaigns and ideas for the advertisers has always been one of the most rewarding parts of the job,” she said.

Kathy likes The People-Sentinel because it is a place to learn facts rather than rumors and gossip.

“We are blessed to get the real story with real facts and without biased opinions. I know I would be lost every Wednesday if I couldn't receive our community newspaper in the mail. I enjoy seeing the ads, pictures, and reading the news articles, birth and wedding announcements, sports, and all that make the paper a local asset to our community,” said Googe.

As a lifelong resident of Barnwell County, she loves the community’s compassion and how everyone comes together during times of need.

She and her husband Luther own and operate G-6 Farm where they grow and sell hay. They have four daughters and are also proud grandparents
