SPRINGFIELD - Jean Harley Morgan, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away surrounded by her children on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, ending a wonderful life.

“Miss Jean” was born April 15, 1939, the only child of the late William Thomas and Thelma Rebecca Beard Harley. She married the love of her life, Daniel L. Morgan, in 1958 on Valentine’s Day.

Jean was a devoted Christian lady who served her church, The First Baptist Church of Springfield, for over 70 years where she was a member of the WMU, served as Sunday School teacher, VBS Director, Youth Choir Director, was a member of the Adult Choir, was on the decorating committee, the building committee and other numerous committees throughout her life.

She was an avid member of the Springfield Garden Club. She also was an entrepreneur where she worked alongside her husband in the family pharmacy, Morgan’s Pharmacy, which expanded to open their additional business in Gilbert, S.C. She loved her community and friends. She and Dan loved spending time together growing a huge vegetable garden. She was a partner with her husband in Morgan’s Farm until her death.  She instilled her love of farming and the outdoors and her passion for caring for others through her work. She passed on that love of both occupations to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Most importantly, she instilled her love of Christ with her family and friends by her actions and deeds.

Her greatest accomplishment in life was her family. She was married for over 55 years. She had 3 children, a daughter, Rebecca Jean Collins and her husband Clay of Blackville, a son, Rufus Cephus Morgan II and his wife Becky of Springfield, and another son, Lloyd Alexander Morgan and his wife Dawn of Springfield. She had 8 grandchildren, Jean Ashleigh (Cody) Gleaton, Madeline (Monty) Nix, Shank (Heather) Collins, Peggy (Gib) Gibbons, Rachel (Tripp) Hylton, Becca (Russell) Zorn, Roxanne (Trent) Still, and Anna Beth (Trevor) Randall; and 14 great-grandchildren, Wylie Jane Gleaton, Tag Nix, Maddy Clay Nix, Morgan Elise Collins, Brig Collins, Ann Garrick Gibbons, Guy Gibbons, Ida Hylton, Walt Zorn, Rutt Zorn, Jude Still, Ames Still, Remi Still, and Ocie Still.

She loved spending time with her extended family in Clinton, S.C., where she was a member of The Pearls.

We would like to thank the numerous caregivers who loved her throughout her illness, McLeod Home Care and Grove Park Hospice.
