AIKEN - George Buggs Jr. was born on Wednesday, August 8, 1945, in Barnwell, South Carolina, to the late George Buggs Sr. and the late Flourine Hosey Buggs.

During the hours of Monday, September 30, 2024, the gates of Heaven swung open as God called George home. God touched his heart and whispered, “Come to me, for you have fought a good fight and labored enough.” He made his permanent change of address from Earth to Heaven at Pruitt Health Nursing Facility in Aiken, South Carolina, at the age of 79.

Seeking God’s direction and guidance, “Bubba”, as he was affectionately called, joined and became a baptized member of Brown Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Barnwell. He remained a member of Brown Chapel until the Lord called him home. His education was provided by teachers and mentors of the Barnwell County School System, and he was a graduate of the former Butler High School in Barnwell. George enlisted in the Army National Guard and was loyal to his Country. He was employed as a production worker in the manufacturing industry.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Iva Yvonne Dicks, and together they raised and nurtured a beautiful family.

Although George’s presence will be no more, he leaves loving memories that will remain embedded in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his grandparents, George was preceded in death and is now resting with his beloved parents, George Buggs Sr. and Flourine Hosey Buggs; one son, SSG. George Edward Buggs; one sister, Georgia Mae Brown; and one brother, LC Buggs.

Those remaining to cherish fond memories are his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Iva Yvonne Buggs of Barnwell, S.C.; two daughters, Joyce Buggs (Anthony) Brown of Barnwell, S.C. and Delaine Danqunett Buggs (Maurice Lawton) of Manchester, NH; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Josie Barker and Sarah (Don) Williams; two brothers, Columbus (Linda)Buggs and Marshall Buggs Sr.; one sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Buggs; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
