Candidates must file by August 15 for Nov. 7 ballot

Filing is underway for residents interested in being a candidate on the November General Election ballot.

Here’s a look at the council and mayoral seats that will be on the Nov. 7 ballot for the municipalities of Barnwell, Blackville, Elko, Hilda, Kline, Snelling, and Williston:

City of Barnwell: Mayor and city council districts #2, #4, and #6, for four-year terms. As of press time, current councilman Ron Still has filed to run for mayor. Incumbents Peggy Kinlaw (District 2) and Jimbo Moody (District 4) have filed to keep their seats. For District 6, incumbent Ryan T. Bragg and Jana Black Myers have filed.

Town of Blackville: Mayor and three town council seats to fill for four-year terms. As of press time, no one has filed.

Town of Elko: Mayor and two town council seats to fill for four-year terms. Incumbent Curtis Young and Steve Terry have filed as of press time for town council.

Town of Kline: Mayor and two town council seats to fill for four-year terms. As of press time, incumbent Mayor William H. Cave and incumbent council member Rodger D. Arnold have filed for their seats.

Town of Hilda: Mayor and two town council seats to fill for four-year terms. As of press time, Allison Still Beasley has filed to keep her council seat.

Town of Snelling: Two town council seats to fill for four-year terms. No one has filed as of press time.

Town of Williston: Three town council seats to fill for four-year terms. As of press time, incumbent Alyson Collins and Judy Myrick Taylor have filed.

The candidate filing period will conclude at noon on August 15. Any candidate seeking one of the above offices must file during this period at the Barnwell County Voter Registration & Elections Office at 367 Fuldner Rd., Barnwell.
