Barnwell High School was evacuated Friday, Feb. 17 for an alleged bomb threat.

Barnwell County sheriff's deputies and other law enforcement responded quickly. Meanwhile, the school followed emergency management procedures.

"All students and staff were evacuated and accounted for, according to Barnwell District 45 Superintendent Dr. Crissie Stapleton.

Classes resumed once deputies cleared the school.

The case is being investigated by the State Law Enforcement Division at the request of the sheriff's office.

"The investigation is active and ongoing. SLED would like to remind everyone to remain vigilant and report any information on bomb threats to local law enforcement," said SLED spokeswoman Renee Wunderlich.
