Barnwell County Career Center outstanding students of the year

Each year, every ­teacher at the Barnwell County Career Center selects one outstanding student of the year to represent his/her program. These are stellar, standout students in their programs who eagerly accept new responsibilities and persevere through ­challenges.

The students are interviewed, and teachers select their top three choices. The student who has the most votes wins the overall student of the year. The student who has the second highest amount of votes serves as the runner-up for the overall student of the year.

Congratulations to the following Barnwell County Career Center outstanding students of the year for their programs.

Clifford Still is the overall student of the year winner. He was selected by his Automotive Technology teacher, Mr. Mark Epperson. His future plans include becoming gainfully employed and owning a house on Lake Greenwood one day.
Amiya Johnson is the runner-up for the overall student of the year. She was selected by her Health Science teacher, Mrs. Dawn Wilbanks. Amiya will be attending North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and major­ing in Kinesiology. She also plans to attend medical school. Her ultimate goal is to become a holistic physician.
Jonah Baker was selected by his Building Construction teacher, Mr. Mark Fischer. He plans to go college to study physical therapy and eventually have a building company.
Nathan Causey was sel­ected by his Welding teacher, Mr. Lewis Fulmer. His future plan is to attend a trade school, then either traveling, or establishing himself locally to begin his career.
Kayden DeFreest was selected by her Agriculture teacher, Mrs. Christle Tindall-Gleaton. She will be attending ABAC in Tifton, Georgia for agriculture education and may even come back to Barnwell to teach at the career center.
Traveonna McCreary was selected by her Cosmetology teacher, Mrs. Lisa Hutto. She plans to own a salon one day.
Kaitlyn Redd was selected by her Agriculture teacher, Mrs. Desiree Still. She plans to attend the University of South Carolina-Aiken and major in Early Childhood Education.
Sara Rudd was selected by her Health Science teacher, Mrs. Winter Scott. She plans to attend USC-Aiken and major in Nursing.
Jelisea Ruth-Hudson was selected by her Mechatronics teacher, Mr. Ron Still. She aspires to become a veterinarian one day.
Katelynn Ryan was selected by her Law Enforcement Services teacher, Mr. Aaron Cutler. She plans on attending law school to become a Criminal Defense Attorney. She eventually wants to pursue a career in politics.
Skyler Santos was selected by his Cybersecurity teacher, Mr. Travis Morehead. He plans to graduate high school in the top 30% of his class,and obtain a master’s degree in Business and Administration.
Crystaisha Williams was selected by her Marketing teacher, Mrs. Natasha Broxton. She plans to attend USC-Aiken to major in business.
Gracyn Williams was selected by her Mechanical Design teacher, Mr. Robert Sanders. She plans to attend Charleston Southern University and major in Graphic Design with a minor in Christian Studies.
