Improv Night to bring evening of laughs to Circle Theatre

An evening of chaos and laughter is coming to Barnwell’s Circle Theatre.

The theatre’s brand-new improv group is making its debut this Saturday, September 20 with an Improv Night. The fun starts at 7 p.m. at the theatre (325 Academy Street, Barnwell).

“You never really know what to expect when it comes to improv. All I can say is be prepared to laugh!” said Jacob Sanders, who created the group.

Joining Sanders will be Jeff Miller, Dan Anderson, David Buwalda, John Buwalda, and Caroline Randall. This quick-witted team of improvisers will also take suggestions from the audience on topics to use during the evening of laughs.

“We’ve taken a lot of inspiration from the famous ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ TV show and added our own spin on it. We have lots of different personalities who bring their own personal take on comedy, and when combined, you get a guaranteed evening of laughter and fun!” said Sanders.

After attending an improv group in college, Sanders thought it looked like a lot of fun. Now that he’s once again involved with Circle Theatre, “I wanted to bring that chaotic sense of fun to Barnwell,” he said.

While the cast is set for the inaugural performance, Sanders said there’s room to expand the team in the future and “bring in more larger-than-life characters. Barnwell has some great talent, and I’d love to see them have some fun with us!”

This will be a PG-rated show, so Sanders said it’s safe to bring the entire family for an evening of laughs and fun.

Tickets for the show are only $5. Tickets are available in advance at The People-Sentinel (22 Burr Street, Barnwell), but will also be available at the door, which opens 30 minutes before the show starts.
