BARNWELL - Mitchel Eugene “Mitch” Lunsford Sr., 65, of Barnwell, S.C. passed away at his home on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

Born May 10, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri, Mitch was a son of the late Paul Aaron Lunsford and Mary Lou Smith Waits. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Ray Lunsford.

Mitch worked for 15 years as a Customer Service Manager and account executive with Energy Solutions and Hittman Transport. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed his time away from work just as much. Mitch loved gold, collecting coins and was a numismatist. One of his greatest passions was riding his motorcycles.

Above all, Mitch was a devoted family man who dearly loved his children and grandchildren. His family was an important part of his life, and the time spent with those he loved brought him great joy.

Survivors include his daughter, Halee Lunsford (Parker) of Barnwell; son, Mitchel E. Lunsford Jr. and his wife, Sylvia of Aiken; a brother, William B. Waits and his wife, Christy of Aiken; stepmother, Florene Lunsford of Edgefield; stepfather, Bill Waits; five grandchildren, Malachi Lunsford, Michaela Lunsford, Micah Lunsford, Cameron Davis, and Harlee Davis; his beloved best friends, Jessica Thomas and Ricky Lancaster; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loyal friends.

Mitch was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having proudly served his country.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel in Williston, with Dr. Andy Sandifer officiating and U.S. Air Force Honors accorded. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2026, at the funeral home in Williston.

Mitch will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his many interests, his love of motorcycles, and the friendships he formed at work and throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
