Jana joined the newspaper team in March 2022 to sell and design ads; however, she’s worked for The People-Sentinel two other times in various positions.
Designing advertisements is what she loves most about her job. She’s even won multiple awards from the S.C. Press Association for her designs.
“In a world of fake news and disinformation, your local newspaper is a credible source of keeping the community informed. Read the newspaper from front to back. I see so many comments on Facebook about 'I wish I had known this was taking place, why didn't you tell me?' Well, we did it - in the newspaper for two or three weeks. Support your local newspaper by subscribing or advertising. We love to support those businesses that support us,” she said.
She encourages businesses to not solely rely on social media to advertise their products and services. The newspaper can help businesses reach thousands of potential customers through print and digital.
Jana is a Barnwell native but now resides in Aiken. In addition to working for The People-Sentinel, she flips furniture such as turning an armoire into a coffee bar, etc.
She and her husband Doug have a blended family of three daughters, three sons, two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, six granddaughters and three grandsons.
