BLACKVILLE - Iris Melrose Smith Hutson, 90, of Blackville, S.C. passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock a.m., Thursday, June 26, 2025 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, S.C. with the Reverend Dr. Brandon Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell Memory Gardens on Reynolds Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.  Honored to serve as pallbearers are Scotty Bolser, Brian Ellisor, Eric Ellisor, Myles Hutson, Elliott Owens and James Owens.  Honorary pallbearers are Brent Holman and Tim Stanfield.

Born in Clinton, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Reverend Dr. D. E. Smith and Mabel Parker Smith and was married to the late B. H. Hutson for 54 years. She was a member of Faith Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.  Melrose previously worked in the Blackville, Salley and Williston sewing plants for many years and also worked at Sunbeam Company in Denmark, S.C. She later was a truck driver, having driven with her husband for over 25 years.

Survivors include her daughters, Demetra H. (Sammy) Lancaster of Prosperity, S.C. and Pamela H. (Larry) Ellisor of Columbia, S.C.; sons, Stephen “Steve” D. (Shirley) Hutson of Barnwell, S.C. and Bob Elliott Hutson of Lexington, S.C.; grandchildren, Lauren L. (Scotty) Bolser, Jennifer E. (Brent) Holman, Eric Joseph Ellisor, Brian Ellisor (Brittany Clark), Kelly Hutson (Tim Stanfield), Brandon (Danielle) Hutson, and Brittany (James) Owens; great-grandchildren, Olivia Hutson, Myles Hutson, Emaleigh Owens, Elliott Owens, Ava Grace Bolser, Adeline Holman, and Nora Holman;  a sister, Olivia (Erwin) Schmitt of Calabash, N.C.; brothers, Calvin (Darlene) Smith of Greenville, N.C. and Reverend Jay Smith of Walhalla, S.C.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Marshall Lancaster.
