BLACKVILLE - Frankie Hair, 82, of Blackville, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
Born in Barnwell County, Frankie was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin "Bennie" Hair and Meta Laird Hair Zissett. He was a proud graduate of Blackville High School, where he played football for the Blackville Blue Streaks. He faithfully served his country as a member of the South Carolina National Guard.
A devoted Christian, Frankie was a lifelong member of Ashleigh Baptist Church. His unwavering faith was reflected in his service as Church Song Director for 56 years and as an active deacon for more than 60 years. His dedication to his church and love for the Lord left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Frankie retired from Milliken after 42 years of dedicated service, where he worked as a color matcher in the dye house. Outside of work, he found joy in fishing, gardening, and cheering on his favorite football teams. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, JoAnn Carroll Hair, whom he married on May 7, 1966; his daughter, Wendy (Allen) Felkel of Summerville, S.C.; his sons, Phil (Lynn) Hair of Barnwell, S.C., and Jeffrey Hair of Blackville, S.C.; his cherished grandchildren, Sabrina (Cody) Balz, Jacob (Kayla) Hair, and Colton Hair; his treasured great-grandchildren, Turner and Myles Hair and Breeley Grace and Selah Balz; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Frankie was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Dalton; and his brothers, Albert Hair and Herman Hair.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice for the compassionate care, love, and support shown to Frankie and his family during his illness.
A celebration of Frankie's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Ashleigh Baptist Church, with the Reverend Joe Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
