First Baptist Church of Barnwell recognized two members for decades of service.
Gary Bell and Otis Frazier were awarded the title of Deacon Emeritus on December 1, 2024. They were joined by their families as the pastor, Rev. Bart Kelley, presented the two men with certificates thanking them for their “many years of faithful service.”
“These two men have diligently served the Lord faithfully here at Barnwell First throughout the decades, whether they were active or inactive deacons. Through their strong devotion to God and wisdom given over these years, their diligence aided to pave the road for others to follow and helped to cement the strong Biblical foundational standards we stand upon,” said Rev. Kelley.
Rev. Kelley said the certificate is a small token of appreciation that stands for much more, including diligence, sovereignty for the Lord, hard work, and the hard decisions that Bell and Frazier have had to make over the years as they served God and the church.
“The legacy these men have left behind in their faithful service have set a standard for all to follow. Even at this time, they gather in fellowship with the church body every Sunday to worship and praise Christ. Thank you for all you’ve done and continue to live out daily,” he said.
Rev. Kelley also thanked each man’s family for standing behind them and supporting them.
