BARNWELL - Funeral services for Ernestene Baxley Brown, 77, of Barnwell, S.C. were held at 3 o’clock p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Seven Pines Baptist Church with the Reverend Mark Watford officiating. Burial followed at Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery by the airport. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Honored to serve as pallbearers were Clifford Still, Chris Still, Jimmy Still, Wiley Moore, Rally Reynolds and Casey Price.

Ernestene passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Born in Springfield, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Baxley and Thelma Weeks Clegg and was married to Philip Earl Brown for 59 years. Ernestene worked as an inspector with Shuron and later retired as an operator from Savannah River Site. She was a member of Seven Pines Baptist Church. Ernestene found great joy in the simple things in life. She loved working in her yard, tending to her flowers, and especially loved her dogs. She enjoyed cooking and treasured time spent with her family. Those who knew her will fondly remember one of her specialties—her delicious red velvet cake.

In addition to her husband, Philip Earl Brown, she is survived by her sons, Brian Brown and Byron (Audra) Brown, all of Barnwell, S.C.; grandchildren, Jordan Brown (Kristen) of Barnwell, S.C. and Kelci (Will) McSwain of York, SC.; great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Raine Brown; and brother, Terry (Gloria) Baxley; a special niece, Wanda and her husband Casey Price; nieces, Angie Bunch, Brenda Caulder; and a nephew, Rally Reynolds.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased in death by sisters, Barbara Reynolds and Patsy Cassavaw.
