As the holidays approach and the spirit of gratitude fills the air, Barnwell County is once again coming together to celebrate one of its greatest treasures — our seniors.
The Senior Friendsgiving Luncheon, to be held Thursday, November 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gail Reyes Senior Center, is a heartfelt gathering created to honor the wisdom, joy, and lifetime of contributions from those who have built the foundation of our community.
This special event is hosted by the Barnwell County Helpline, Barnwell County Community Engagement Department, Generations Unlimited, and Augusta Fiberglass, four organizations united by a shared mission of care, compassion, and connection.
Guests will enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal generously provided by Michael Morrow of Hilda Grocery, along with uplifting entertainment by Bo Gardner. Adding a spiritual touch to the afternoon, Dana Bell, youth minister at First Baptist Church of Barnwell, will share an encouraging word to remind everyone of the strength that comes from faith and fellowship.
The Senior Friendsgiving Luncheon is more than an event, it’s a reminder that our seniors are the heartbeat of Barnwell County. Their stories, resilience, and kindness continue to inspire generations to come. This celebration is simply one way to say, “We see you, we thank you, and we cherish you.”
As we gather around the table this Friendsgiving, may we all take a moment to appreciate the ones who’ve given so much — and remember that community is built not just by what we do, but by how we care for one another.
