Residents and visitors are invited to explore local farms, artisans, farmers markets, and rural communities during the 2026 Ag + Art Tour of Barnwell and Allendale Counties on Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., part of South Carolina's largest free farm and art tour, where guests can visit working farms, meet local farmers and artisans, and experience firsthand the agriculture, creativity, and rural heritage that shape our region.
This year's event marks the first time Barnwell and Allendale Counties have combined their Ag + Art Tours into one regional experience. Organized locally in partnership with the Southern Palmetto Chamber, the decision reflects the strong regional connections between the two counties. Rather than hosting separate tours on different weekends, organizers felt it made sense to bring the event together to create a larger experience for visitors and help all participating sites benefit from increased attendance and exposure.
Tour stops include Boundary Creek Farm, Humpty Dumpty Poultry Farm, King George Lavender Farm, Windmill Farms, Veggie Cupboard Community Garden, the Barnwell Farmers Market, the Allendale Farmers Market, and Little Red Barn, an artisan destination featuring handcrafted goods from local makers.
Organizers hope the tour shines a spotlight on the small farms, producers, artisans, and entrepreneurs who help drive the local economy.
"One of the greatest strengths of our rural communities is the talent and creativity of the people who live here, whether it's a farmer growing produce, a family raising livestock, or an artisan creating handcrafted goods, we hope visitors discover new places and people they can continue to support long after the tour is over."

The Ag + Art Tour coincides with the start of another exciting farmers market season in both Barnwell and Allendale Counties.
The Barnwell Farmers Market opened its 2026 season on June 2 and visitors will find fresh produce, eggs, honey, baked goods, handmade products, wellness items, and some fun, new exciting family-friendly activities and events throughout the season.
During the Ag + Art Tour, visitors can enjoy the annual Touch-A-Tractor event, featuring real farm equipment, agricultural displays, and hands-on activities for children and families. The South Carolina Farm Bureau Agricultural Simulator will also be on site, offering a unique look at modern agriculture.
In Allendale County, local partners continue working to strengthen and grow the Allendale Farmers Market through a collaborative effort between Allendale HEALing Partners and the Town of Allendale. While still in its early stages, the market is expected to feature local farmers and vendors and provide additional opportunities for residents to access locally grown products.
"When you shop at a farmers market, you're investing directly in local farms, small businesses, and your community. These markets help keep local food dollars in the community while providing fresh products and opportunities to connect with the people who grow and make them."
Vendor opportunities remain available at both markets. Farmers, food producers, artisans, and other eligible vendors interested in participating are encouraged to reach out.
