The Barnwell Sundial Festival will return this weekend on May 8th and 9th with exciting new additions and renewed energy, as the Southern Palmetto Regional Chamber proudly takes the lead in organizing this cherished community tradition. With two full days of entertainment, activities, and local talent, this year’s festival promises something for everyone.
Kicking off this free, family-friendly event on Friday, May 8th, the festival will kick off at 11 a.m. with over 60 vendors and food vendors from throughout the state, alongside regionally made products and crafts. Friday evening from 6-9 p.m., the festival will transport attendees back in time with a lively 1950s-themed sock hop. Guests are encouraged to dress in their best retro attire and join in the fun, with a costume contest that includes cash prizes adding to the excitement! The sock hop will feature live music performed by Aiken’s own Anybody’s Guess, along with street dancing that aims to bring the nostalgic atmosphere to life.
On Saturday, May 9th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the festival continues with a full day of activities showcasing some of the best of the region. A talent showcase competition will highlight performers of all kinds, while the annual car show will feature some of the best rides in the region. Festivities will wrap up with a 45-minute acoustic closing concert starting at 3:15 p.m. featuring Nashville recording artist Cody Webb.
Make sure to bring the whole family, as both days will include a Kids Zone with plenty of entertainment for younger attendees, including a bounce house, slide, pony carousel, and carnival game.
The Southern Palmetto Regional Chamber President/CEO, Bob Snead, said of the event “We are truly excited to add this event to our organizational offerings and want to express our gratitude to the founders of the event for entrusting us to help it continue on for many years to come. I also have to give a big thanks to all of our sponsors and vendors whose generous support make this a free community event. We could not have done it without them!”
