Stephanie Shaver of Barnwell, South Carolina, and Andrew Carvalho of Augusta, Georgia, were united in marriage on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Pointes West Army Resort in Appling, Georgia.

Set along the shoreline of Clarks Hill Lake, the ceremony was officiated by Army Chaplain CH. Benjamin Sowders of Fort Gordon. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Scott Shaver.

Shalyla Hentges, the bride’s best friend of 13 years, served as maid of honor, and Analiese Carvalho, the groom’s sister-in-law, was the sole bridesmaid. The groom’s daughter, Charlotte Carvalho, presented the rings during the ceremony.

The groom’s youngest brother, George Carvalho, served as best man, while his eldest brother, David White, was the sole groomsman.

Family and friends traveled from across the country to celebrate the couple, with the bride’s loved ones coming from Minnesota and the groom’s family traveling from Indiana.

A reception followed at American Legion Post 178 in Augusta, Georgia, where guests gathered to celebrate the newlyweds.

The bride is the daughter of Scott Shaver of Owatana, Minnesota, and Debra Hornsby of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is a 2024 graduate of Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and is employed by The People-Sentinel in Barnwell.

The groom is the son of the late Robert “Bo” Carvalho of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Diane Carvalho of New Carlisle. He is a 2019 graduate of the Army Nursing Program and is employed by the U.S. Army at Eisenhower Medical Center at Fort Gordon in Augusta.

Following the wedding, the couple enjoyed a day trip to Beaufort, South Carolina, where they spent time along the coast and sightseeing.
