The U.S. Forest Service – Savannah River is conducting a 1,300-acre prescribed burn today, February 10, 2026.
The active burn period will continue until approximately 5 p.m. (1700 hours).
Residents in surrounding areas may notice large columns of smoke, but officials report that all fire activity will remain west of the Savannah River Site (SRS).
Prescribed burns are carefully planned and monitored to reduce wildfire risks, improve forest health, and support native habitat restoration.
