Mary Wood

BARNWELL - Mary Zissette Wood, 69, of Barnwell, S.C. passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 12 o’clock noon on Saturday, September 12, 2026 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, S.C. with the Reverend Milton Sanders and Austin Wood officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.

Born in Orangeburg, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Lewis David Zissette and Mary Margaret Sox Zissette. Mary loved her Lord and savior and was a member of Faith Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was quite a character who was a “straight shooter” and always “called it like she saw it”. There was a right way, a wrong way and Mary’s way. She was a loving and carefree person who always took pride in the family; she enjoyed visiting and socializing. Mary loved a great shopping trip where she enjoyed riding and “getting out”. You could always depend on Mary, she would do anything that you needed, and she always tried her best to get the job done right.

Survivors include her son, Timothy Eric and Elizangela Wood of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Tyler (Kendra) Wood, Noah Wood, Kaitlynn (Jared) Linville, Ashley Nicole Wood, Britney Ann (Trey) Jackson, Austin Lee (Rachel Lynn) Wood, Joshua Brandon Wood, Christopher Keith Wood, Jonathan Taylor Wood, Victoria Wood and William Nathan Wood; great-grandchildren, Lawson Kash Linville, Isabella Grace Wood, Evelynn Nicole Wood, Amelia Rose Wood, Gracelynn Dawn Jackson, Sean Nicholas Lahnert and Mitchell Jeremy Lahnert; sister, Patricia Varnadoe of Hilda, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Stacy Wood of Barnwell, S.C.; nieces, Angela Varnadoe, Amanda Chavis and Amy (Heather) Varnadoe; a special cousin, Brenda Still.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Keith Wood; and a grandson, William Nicholas Wood.
