Barnwell County voters returned many familiar faces to office in Tuesday’s municipal elections, where turnout reached 17.74%, according to unofficial results. Most candidates ran unopposed, securing their seats with wide margins, including multiple Barnwell and Williston council districts, as well as the mayors of Snelling and Williston.
Three races drew competition:
• Snelling Town Council (unexpired seat), where Janet Morris Creighton won with 68.89% of the vote. Bryce Parker received 31.11%.
• Blackville Town Council (unexpired seat), where Richard Olsen earned 65.56%. Shellie Bumgarner Khatod received 33.61%.
• Williston Town Council, where three seats were open and four candidates ran. Annie Smalls Tyler (35.29%), Eric Moody (28.48%) and Kurt Odermatt (25.94%) were elected. Brandon Widener finished with 9.49%.
Blackville’s full-term council race featured three candidates vying for three seats, with Alan Harrison (34.18%), Bruce Johnson (32.53%) and Enterick Lee (30.73%) re-elected at-large.
Other notable results included:
• Barnwell City Council District 1 – Ricky Dixon (95.65%)
• Barnwell City Council District 3 – Alicia Davis (97.06%)
• Barnwell City Council District 5 – Louis Claytor III (100%)
• Hilda Town Council – Timothy Black (51.52%) and Amy Roberts (48.48%)
• Snelling Town Council – Carl Anderson Jr. (52.05%) and Annette Moore (46.58%)
Final certified results will be released by the Barnwell County Board of Elections.
