FLORIDA - Jonas J. Mast, 85, passed away October 23, 2024. He was born April 27, 1939 in Lagrange, Indiana to the late John and Fannie (Weaver) Mast.
Jonas was a member of New Holland Mennonite Church in New Holland, South Carolina. He owned Mast Plumbing and served as pastor for Calvary Fellowship in Blackville, South Carolina.
In 2022, he moved to Sarasota, Fla. from Wagener, S.C. He was very athletic and enjoyed playing softball, volleyball, golf, landscaping, barbecuing chicken and teasing his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 ½ years, Rosanna; children Verneda Lapp and her husband Randy; Arlan Mast and his former wife Paula; Ernest Mast and his wife Janice; Lorene Miller and her former husband Matt; Rhonda Yoder and her husband Ron; and Jimmy Mast and his wife Becky; siblings Edna Yoder and her husband Ernest; Katie Fry and her husband Crist; David Mast and his wife Lucy; Levi Mast; and Ervin Mast and his wife Rose; grandchildren Yasmine, Maria, Brandon, Alana, Venecia, Trenton, Victoria and her husband Ernesto; Roxanne and her husband Peter; Richie; Randall and his wife Tori; Ranessa and her husband Timmy; Damon and his wife Krista; Chloe; and Mason; great-grandchildren Shakyra, Cayson, Bri’enne, Hudson, Beckham and Amelia.
In addition to his parents, Jonas was predeceased by his brother Delbert; sisters Mary and Lydia; and his step-mother Millie.
Viewing will take place Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Palm Grove Mennonite Church in the gym, 1087 S. Beneva Road, Sarasota, Florida 34232. Funeral will begin Monday at 10 a.m. also at the Palm Grove Gym. Interment will follow in Bethel Mennonite Cemetery.
