ALLENDALE - Mr. Johnnie Lee Sanders of Allendale, S.C. passed away on September 25, 2025 at the age of 81. He was born on July 31, 1944 to the late Tom (Bit) Sanders, and the late Lilly Mae Fields.
He worked at Savannah River Site (SRS) as a carpenter where he later retired in 2009.
Johnnie is survived by Margaret Langley (significant other) of Allendale, S.C.; two sisters, Dorthy Barnes of Philadelphia, Pa., Emma Dolores Cohen of Newark, Delaware; seven children: Tom Sanders (Evelyn) of Willingboro, N.J., Karen Russell of Aiken, S.C., Terry Capers of Columbia, S.C., Rotonya Holmes of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Lillette Speaks (Richard) and Tammy Sanders of Varnville, S.C., and Angela Sanders of Burlington, N.J. Additional survivors are 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Sanders, and mother, Lilly Mae Sanders; sisters, Thomasena Jenkins, Lucy Simmons, Hermene Sanders, Zay Sanders; and Eugene Cohen (brother-in-law).
Graveside committal service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church.
