WILLISTON - James Harry “Tater” Still, 81, of Williston, S.C. passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 12 o’clock noon on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, S.C. with the Reverend Ashley Howell and Austin Wood officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Born in Barnwell, S.C., he was a son of the late James Guy Still and Hattie Louise Ward Still and was married to the late Sandra Boyer Still for 47 years. He was a member of Hilda Southern Methodist Church and retired as a maintenance engineer from Dayco. Tater was a jack-of-all trades, he loved woodworking, tinkering and piddling with any and everything. He enjoyed outdoors and was a “tree shade” engineer who was noted for being strong. He and Captain Pete, the cat with nine lives and a couple of more, enjoyed telling old Vietnam stories. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Still (Jessie) Chavis Wood of Williston, S.C.; step-daughters, Cheryl (Christopher) Collins of Jackson, GA and Cindy Kitchens of Aiken, S.C.; grandchildren, Brian Corley, Allen (Callie) Chavis, Chance (Kayla) Chavis, Alexis Scott (Keem), Brittany Still and many other grands and great-grands; a brother, William Henry Still of Olar, S.C.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Sandra Still, he was preceded in death by a son, James Phillip “Phil” Still; sisters, Florence Redmond, Floralee Hutto, Ruth Godbold, and Hazel Schafer; a brother, David Still; a granddaughter, Samantha Corley; and a great-grandson, Aiden Swider.
